 “When I first started working with 3Q Fitness Studio, I was about 270lbs and on a path to probably developing a chronic disease like diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. I was always worn out at the end of the day. I really didn’t have a lot of energy; I would just get home after work and want to crash out. As a family physician, I wanted to be able to practice what I preached to my patients. I felt it was hypocritical of me to have patients coming to my office and seeing me out of shape with bad habits of my own; and me telling them to improve their situation by losing weight, eating right, and exercising. I wanted to be a good example for my kids and my patients. Having them see me walking the walk and me being able to tell them that it is possible to get healthier and have a better quality of life is great. But I always let them know that there’s no magic pill…they have to put in the effort it takes if they really want it to see the right results.

In the beginning, it was really difficult to do basic exercises. I could only do about 2 or 3 push-ups and I couldn’t do pull-ups at all. Robert encouraged me to just keep coming and working hard. We set some goals early on and just recently during a “fitness marker” I completed 30 consecutive push-ups and 6 strict pull-ups. Although I’ve climbed some mountains to get here, I’m not done yet. I’ve lost about 25lbs and I have a lot more muscle, more stamina, more energy than I use to. Not only that, but my family and friends can see big difference in how I look now compared to what I looked like when I started.

I use to be a member of a large gym and decided to cancel my membership because I was frequently frustrated by not being able to have access to the equipment without being interrupted; and the thought of working with one of the trainers there wasn’t all that appealing because it seemed like they were using “cookie-cutter” type programs that were not tailored to the individual. I wanted to work with someone who could help me address my personal needs and work closely with me to create a plan that was comprehensive. Robert does that and he’s very good about encouraging and helping me stay motivated to reach my goals. The workouts are a lot more intense than what I would do on my own, so I think this is one of the reasons why the results come so much faster.
